Y'all, pour yourself a cup of coffee and read this adorable adoption update. 🖤🐾Rory, now Amore!, found his Forever with this gorgeous couple and just the perfect life. Read on from his new Momma."We've had dogs, Bichon Frises and Coton de Tulears since the early 90's. After we lost our last Coton in 2020, we decided to foster and really loved it. We fostered six dogs and found great homes for all of them, including our only foster fail, a deaf Maltese who passed away last year. We just finished a house reno and I was about to start reaching out to foster again, when I received an email from Adopt-a-Pet of Rory. I thought it very odd a Coton/Havanese mix would be available. They normally go in minutes. And in Evergreen? Amongst all the mountain dogs? I filled out an application immediately thinking I had no chance because there was probably a bidding war already on him. Turns out four days later I received a call and two days later Barbra brought Rory to our house to meet us. We were smitten immediately and the rest is history!Rory is now Amore! My husband Giovanni is Italian and we love all things Italian. Amore means love, and he truly is twelve pounds of furry love. He learned his new name in just a few days. He’s figuring out the stairs, going up well and coming down with a little help. His tailless body doesn’t slow him down. Outside he gets the zoomies on our large patio, leaping straight into the air and racing into the yard like a little rocket. He loves walks and is excellent on a leash, happily walking beside us while sniffing everything. He’s still a bit cautious around other dogs, so we’re giving him time and encouragement before introducing him to new furry friends. The vet gave him a great bill of health. We also did a DNA and age swab and should hear back in about five weeks. If he turns out to be part Coton de Tulear, he’ll be our fourth. We love those little dogs from Madagascar. He’ll play fetch endlessly… and when we stop throwing the ball, he starts tossing it himself. He’s sweet, hysterical, and we’re devoted to giving him the wonderful life he deserves. Barbara was a great foster. You could tell she gave him lots of love, good food and turned him around. Thank you so much to everyone at EAPL for all the great heroics you do!"These stories are everything to us. Thank you to Rory's amazing foster and to his new mom and dad for giving him such a great life. Have the very best Forever, Amore!#EAPL #FoundMyForever #fosteringsaveslives #thatsamore #adoptdontshop #rescuelife #coloradodogs #rightwhereiwasmeanttobe #rescuedismyfavoritebreed #TogetherForever #coloradorescudogs ... **Foster Needed!**. Meet Bug! He's a ~10-year-old, 14 pound Havanese/Shih Tzu mix with a happy, calm, loving disposition. When this sweet old boy came to the Shelter, he was still intact, missing the hair on his waist, and his visibly dry eyes and dislocated jaw were initially concerning. Now, he's been neutered, his hair has grown back, and his eyes are being treated with drops to keep them moisturized. While his jaw fracture is too old to repair, it doesn't prevent him from eating, drinking, or giving kisses! His chronic dry eye means that he'll always need eye drops to keep his eyes lubricated and healthy.Bug is one of the sweetest, most lovable little dogs you'll ever meet. He always comes when he's called, loves cuddles, and wags his tail when you talk to him. He's not housetrained, he lived outside and was only neutered recently, but he doesn't mind male wraps.Who can foster? Email us at eaplevergreen@reapl.com. First timers, fill out an application at eapl.com/become-foster-home. ... See MoreSee Less
